The word “Kindly” is a pretty big giveaway.

It’s a pretty big ESL flag.

You know, I could probably make a killing as a proofreading consultant for these people.

You probably could. Maybe you should offer your services, because you know they wouldn’t be doing it if they weren’t successful at it.

Okay. Thanks. I’ll get right on it. Maybe I should include your SSN too, just to be safe.

I’m surprised there isn’t a “do the needful” in there.

i’m the IT department at my work, and spent part of the day combatting a Crypto virus that one of my users installed by opening the attached invoice.zip in a email.

I also took the time to send an email to my 100 users about email saftey and to no longer open any .zip attachements.

I still can’t believe people are stupid enough to click on anything or to reply with their pass words.....

that being said if you send me 5000.00 i will give you 15million on my dead uncle’s brother inheritance. you know, i need help paying the legal fees and the hitman...

The spelling errors and stupidity of the subject are intentional, and part of the scam. Scammers want to specifically attract dumb people, as it makes their job easier.

Why make a super-convincing scam that will attract thousands of people when only a tiny percent will actually fall for it? Waste of time and resources. Better to make it dumb as hell so that the only people who respond are ones already dumb enough to write you a check (or give you their password).

Send your offer along with your bank information and UN/PW so they can deposit the fee for your services directly into your account.

There’s a sucker born every minute. I got one of those emails from a friend that said he was stuck in Singapore, lost his wallet, passport, and plane ticket, and would I please help. Interestingly, his email @ was correct in the body of the message, and his name appeared correctly in the in box, and when I hit reply his name appeared in the To field. So I expanded the name and it was going to some other @ (I had no intention of actually replying). I find it particularly surprising that anybody would fall for that one.

Looks like they hired an actual English speaker to write this one. Dang. Upping their game.

Seems legit....

Maybe it’s just my inner child thinking this, but I’d be tempted to respond using a completely made up username and password. I just love the irony and thought of whoever it is running this trying to enter the details and them not working, then finally realising they won’t work, and then muttering something along the lines of “man, this dude was trying to pull the wool over my eyes”, and feeling ripped off because of it

There are still little usage clues that give it away as a non-native English speaker.

“to a newest”

The odd capital letter

The odd comma

They also likely cut and pasted the legalese from some legit email
